                                                  OUR TESTIMONIES

KEITH -- Born and raised in De Soto, MO, Keith began riding the church bus to Second Baptist Church of Festus when he was only six. At the age of nine, Keith was able to attend Living Springs Camp where he accepted Christ as his Saviour. After being baptized, he became a member of Second Baptist Church, but continued to question his salvation for many years. Later, on August 5, 1990, Keith settled it once and for all and accepted the fact that salvation is forever.

God has given Keith opportunities to serve Him in many areas of the local church. As a member of Second Baptist Church, he served in the bus ministry for many years; taught the sixth grade boy's Sunday School class; and worked as counselor, assistant camp director, and camp director for Living Springs Camp. Later, as a member of Forest City Baptist Church, Keith served as deacon, adult Sunday School teacher, head teller, cleaning staff, and preached when the opportunity was given.

During a mission conference in 1999, Keith felt God calling him to serve in the area of missions. Keith continued to seek the Lord's will for the location of his field; and in time, God gave him a deep burden for Canada. In 2003 Keith went on a short-term mission trip to Canada. It was while on this trip that God revealed His will for Keith to go to Northern Manitoba. It was also on this trip that God revealed His will for Keith to marry Julie.

JULIE -- Julie was born into a christian home in Southern Ontario. At the age of five, she went forward to accept Christ as her personal Saviour during a church service, and was later baptized. Growing up in a pastor's home, Julie was given many opportunities to serve the Lord in areas such as Sunday school, Jr. church, nursery, cleaning, and the music ministry.

Throughout the years, Julie felt that God had a special job for her to do, but continued to ignore the Holy Spirit's leading, until one day early in 2002. That morning in church, she surrendered her fears, dreams, and desires to the will of her Father. The next year she took part in the month-long mission trip where she met her future husband, Keith.

OUR CALL TO GILLAM, MANITOBA

April, 2008, we left our home in Aylmer, Ontario. God had opened up an opportunity to fill in for missionaries, Tom and Cathy Talley in South Indian Lake, Manitoba. We had been praying for the Lord to direct us to the community where He would have us begin our ministry. We had an idea of some communities that seem a likely choice, but had no peace about them. Most of the Northern communities have no sound Gospel witness.

On our way up to South Indian Lake, we had several meetings at churches along the way. At our second meeting someone asked whether we had considered Gillam. We had done some research on Gillam, but never really considered it. Then at our last meeting in Kenora, Ontario, Pastor Jeff Friessen asked if we had given Gillam much thought. He told us how he worked there before he was saved. He was searching, but there was no Gospel witness in Gillam. While in South Indian Lake two separate people came and again mentioned the need in Gillam. We began to notice a pattern, and realized the Holy Spirit was trying to get our attention.

We kept waiting for an opportunity to visit Gillam, but couldn't make the fourteen hour round trip from South Indian Lake. On the way down to Winnipeg in August, we decided to stay an extra night in Thompson and go to Gillam the next day. We only had a seven hour round trip from Thompson. When we arrived in Gillam, we drove around and stopped to talk to some of the folks who live there. We knew beyond a doubt that Gillam was where God wanted us.

Gillam is currently a modern town of about 1200 people and was established around eighty years ago. After doing some research, we found that to our knowledge, there has never been a sound Gospel witness in Gillam.

Manitoba Hydro has been working toward the development of two new hydro-electric dams, one in Gillam and one a short distance away. We were told by one of the men in Gillam that after construction of the dams they are estimating the population of Gillam to settle around 3,500. Not far from town is a native reservation of about 3500 people. As far as we know the reservation is closed to the "white man's religion", but the people often come into town for supplies. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we would like to see the whole area reached for Christ.

OUR GOALS

  1. Starting a Local, Independent, Fundamental, King James Bible-believing Baptist church.

  2. Discipling new believers to lead victorious Christian lives.

  3. Reaching neighboring communities through door-to-door visitation, VBS, and other avenues.

  4. Starting a camp ministry to reach the young people who have no where to go to learn about Christ's love.
